Universal Electronics Demonstrates Wireless Game Controller and Technology for Cable With Digeo at CTAM Summit 2004

Jul 14, 2004 |

BOSTON, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), along with Digeo Inc., is demonstrating its latest wireless game controller for use with cable interactive games at the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) Summit 2004, July 18-21, at UEI/Digeo New Media Lab Table, No. 28. UEI's line of wireless game controllers and Extensible Multimedia Protocol (XMP(TM)) for wireless gaming, now available for the first time in the U.S. market, is custom-designed for playing digital interactive games over cable set-top boxes, providing a more compelling game experience than traditional remote controls. The game controllers will help cable and satellite multiple systems operators (MSOs) better harness the potential of the growing interactive services market to generate new incremental revenue from their existing subscriber base.

UEI's XMP enables customized, energy-efficient communication between the set-top box and its wireless controller. Controllers integrated with XMP will be demonstrated at CTAM Summit 2004 on Digeo's Moxi(TM) platform, which powers a new generation of media centers through which cable operators can deliver high-revenue services and applications -- such as digital video recording, high-definition television, on-demand and pay-per-view content, games, photos and a jukebox -- to the whole home at a competitive cost per television.
