Universal Electronics Continues to Bring Superior Design and Control Solutions for the Custom Electronics Professional

Sep 14, 2006 |
    CYPRESS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 2006--

UEI's NevoStudio(TM) 2.0 Software Leads the Way for Innovative,
Faster Installations and Unmatched After-Sales Service and Support

Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) (NASDAQ:UEIC) today announced the release of the NevoStudio 2.0 software application as an update to the company's software suite for the award-winning NevoSL(TM) handheld controller. Boosted by improved user interface design efficiency and remote configuration management, the new suite will benefit professional installers by allowing for faster, easier programming, as well as simplified post-installation service and support.

With the NevoStudio 2.0 software, custom installation professionals can now automatically replace all commands for a device throughout the project file in one simple step. Dubbed SuperFast Device Swapping, this new feature allows installers to easily transfer an existing user interface configuration for one system to another or to "swap" out a device in an existing configuration with a newer model. This feature offers custom installers a quick and easy method of upgrading their customers to the latest in home entertainment technologies, such as new high definition (1080p) plasma televisions or 7.1 audio receivers, and helps professional installers introduce a new array of services to their customers.

Another unique patent pending feature that is included with this release is the NevoXpress(TM) Wireless Download technology. Leveraging NevoSL's built-in Wi-Fi(TM), this feature allows installers to update .NVO project files in the office or customer's home using the Internet and wireless networking. For instance, if the channel line-up changes from a customer's cable or satellite service provider, professional installers can simply update the customer's project file configuration at their office, and upload the configuration file to mynevo.com servers. When the customer is ready, they simply press and hold a button on NevoSL to initiate wireless Internet downloading of the new configuration directly from the mynevo.com servers. This feature gives professional installers another powerful tool to be able to offer an unmatched level of service to their customers and an important cost saving advantage for their business by eliminating the need for costly truck rolls and in home visits, which can be an added inconvenience to their customers.

"With the release of NevoStudio 2.0, UEI's Nevo suite continues to lead the way in providing superior, innovative control solutions to the professional installation market," says Paul Arling, chairman and chief executive officer of UEI. "This upgrade to NevoSL will allow custom installation professionals to complete more jobs with better support in less time, and offers revolutionary new features that are unmatched in the industry."
