Deal with Hong Kong's Leading Telecom and ICT Service Provider Signals Strong Presence in Asia-Pacific Region

CYPRESS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 2007--Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) (NASDAQ:UEIC) today announced it has entered into an agreement through its wholly owned subsidiary UE Singapore Pte. Ltd. to provide universal remote controls for PCCW Media Ltd's now TV service. PCCW is the largest and most comprehensive communications provider in Hong Kong and one of Asia's leading players in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). UEI began distributing the remote controls to PCCW for the new HD IPTV boxes in Q3 2007.

UEI specifically customized the Stealth universal remote control together with PCCW. Region-specific infrared codes and design features like "direct set" and "step 'n set" have been added for easier device set up as well as the utilization of UEI's Xtensible Multimedia Protocol (XMP) IR protocol. XMP enables streamlined and precise communication between UEI's control device and PCCW's set-top box.
